What starts off on a very gritty note in the jungles of the North East soon becomes a melodramatic personal vendetta affair.

Aditya Dhar's Uri comes across more as a movie based on sensationalized news rather than a major achievement in the history of the Indian Armed forces.

The choreography and the authenticity of the Armed forces is as real as it gets, with the intermittent candid moments. I really loved the way the sound was designed and re-recorded right down to the small little hissy noises made by the communication equipment. A major part of the film feels like a joke. From the Garuda UAV's to the ludicrous casting of Rajit Kapoor as NaMo and other lame faces resembling Rajnath Singh, Jaitley and Sushma Swaraj. Laughable and lame. The cabinet meetings are a joke and the dialogues are, well, to say the least, BLAH.

What works for the film is that the heart is in the right place and everybody loves the idea of taking BADLA from Pakistan. And Pakistan always allows us. Also, the action is real and gritty along with very suave and swift choreography. The weapons shown are pretty impressive and all the work the cast has put in really shows. Hats off to the frontliners including Vicky Kaushal and Mohit Raina to play soldiers with relative ease. I would have loved to see more of Mohit Raina though. He looks like a true blue Fauzi.

Apart from ludicrous casting and immature writing at times, the movie has been made with the intent of keeping the tension at an all time high; but that never really happens.

If you are not a big fan of action, it is best to avoid this film as the emotions are not really in the right place.

All in all, the Josh is pretty Blah. Watch it for Vicky Kaushal, for serene cinematography and pretty good combats; weapons and hand to hand.

It loosely tries to emulate zero dark thirty and fails miserably.
