We are Venom.

Much to my liking, that phrase totally fits the premise of what Venom is. A perfect amalgamation of human and symbiote. As always, the special effects and visuals are stunning as ever, as is expected from a Sony/Marvel character film. That is not the exciting part. The exciting part is the smooth and slick camaraderie developed between Eddie Brock and Venom. The catharsis from I AM VENOM to WE ARE VENOM. That's your money, right there. The storyline isn't much of a genius but really, that's a good thing. There is a bad guy who has earth shattering IQ and grand plans for the GREATER GOOD. Then there is our casual good natured good hearted star reporter having a perfect life; the job and the girl. They both go head on in an interview and poor EDDIE finds himself all alone. How he contacts Venom and their camaraderie forms the rest of the plot. The casual oriented direction and the way Hardy plays it with his boyish charm makes you feel good about him having contacted the symbiote. The character of Venom is ferocious and confident and physically alluring (you can see why Tom Hardy was cast). This particular Ducati chase sequence on city streets totally blew me off, combined with a superb background score and bits of Eminem mixes. What works for the movie is the superb subtle dark-ish humor and the even more subtle references to the Spiderman universe (Like Jameson the astronaut). It perfectly builds itself up for part 2 and so on. If you haven't already watched it, watch it in IMAX.
